The 2017 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid became yesterday the second model to receive the annual Green Utility Vehicle of the Year award from the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC). The announcement was made at the opening of the Vancouver International Auto Show.
The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid finished ahead of the Mazda CX-9 and the Subaru Forester to win the prestigious title that recognizes models that stand out in terms of energy efficiency in their respective segments.
Eligible vehicles are evaluated according to a series of criteria during a week of intensive testing by AJAC journalists that takes place in October. Last year, the Mazda CX-3 became the first model to receive the Canadian Green Utility Vehicle of the Year award.
Introduced to the market this year, the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid features a 2.5-liter Atkinson four-cylinder engine that is paired with an electric motor for a total output of 194 horsepower. It is available starting at $ 34,455 and boasts an average fuel consumption rating of 6.9 liters per 100 kilometers in the city.
