Aston Martin To Build 25 DB5 Goldeneye Edition

Twenty-five examples of the legendary 1965 Aston Martin DB5 from the James Bond film Goldeneye will be built between now and 2020.

Depending on who you ask, the real stars of the James Bond movie franchise have not been the actors portraying the super-spy, or the scantily-clad Bond girls. No, the real stars have always been the cars. In part to celebrate the upcoming 25th Bond film, Aston Martinwill build 25 Goldeneye Edition DB5s.

And as the title states, these 25 cars will feature a number of functional gadgets that were used in the course of the movie. Although not all details are yet known, the rotating number plate will be included, an oil slick, as will the smokescreen, pop-out “faux” guns will too as might a carbon-Kevlar shield that will rise through the trunk lid.

Before you get too excited, there are few things you need to know. So, only 25 will be made. Fine. However, the car will not be road-legal for fairly obvious reasons. The final setback is the price: each unit will cost a staggering £2.5 million. If you’re trying to work out the amount in Canadian dollars, don’t.
