We know that German manufacturer Volkswagen is preparing a seven-passenger SUV which was first unveiled as the CrossBlue back in 2013. The model will be arriving next year, but it appears it will have a new name according to the Automotive News’ sister publication in Germany. Indeed, it will be called the Volkswagen Atlas
If that is really its name, the Atlas will slot between the Volkswagen Tiguan and Volkswagen Touareg in terms of price while in terms of space and probably of size, it will be the largest SUV in the Volkswagen with room for seven passengers divided in three rows.
The German automaker reportedly filed a trademark application for the term Atlas with the US government in April. The new SUV, which will be unveiled in California at the end of October if we are to believe Automotive News, will be built in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
With the new-generation Tiguan expected before summer, and the possible arrival of the Atlas, Volkswagen will be in a much better position in two of the most important segments in North America.
