We don’t really know what it’s going to look like or when exactly it will be on our market. However, the Ford Bronco is certainly on its way, and we can thank the US presidential campaign if we know about it.
Indeed, candidate Donald Trump has repeatedly criticized American manufacturer Ford during his campaign, citing the automaker as an example when addressing the loss of US jobs to Mexico and elsewhere. A few weeks ago Ford announced plans to transfer production of the compact Focus and the hybrid C-Max to its Mexican plant.
Following the Donald’s accusations, the United Auto Workers union which represents Ford’s plant in Wayne, Michigan, fired back. A spokesman said the transfer of production of the Focus and C-Max would not impact Ford factory workers since the plant would soon begin building several new models, including the Bronco, as well as the Ford Ranger pickup truck.
We do not yet have many details on these new models. We do know however that the Ford Bronco will probably compete with the Jeep Wrangler, and will be offered in two-door and four-door versions. The Ranger will compete in the midsize pickup segment with the Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, Honda Ridgeline, Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma.
