After a four-year absence, Subaru is back in the midsize SUV segment with the all-new 2019 Subaru Ascent unveiled last night before the Los Angeles International Auto Show. Capable of accommodating seven or eight passengers, it also promises a spacious interior that will emphasize storage, versatility and comfort.
In other words, it seems that Subaru has learned from the mistakes made with the Tribeca which was simply too small to meet the needs of the majority of families.
With the new 2019 Subaru Ascent, it will offer dimensions and capabilities similar to or better than other models in the segment, plus eight USB ports, a 120-volt power outlet, Wi-Fi access and 19 cupholders. Why not?
Under the hood, the new 2019 Subaru Ascent will be powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. This is an all-new engine for Subaru, and according to the automaker it allows the Ascent to tow up to 5,000 pounds. Subaru symmetrical AWD will be standard, of course, as is the EyeSight driving assistance system package.
In terms of ease of access on board, the rear doors of the 2019 Subaru Ascent offer a 75 degree opening, the largest in the segment.
The price of the new 2019 Subaru Ascent will be known within a few months while the model will arrive in the showrooms next summer.
