A few small safety tips that can make a big difference

Car owners have never been safer. There are a host of new active driver assistance technologies that can prevent accidents from ever occurring, and passive safety systems that are more effective than ever before.

That said, we can’t just rely on our vehicle to protect us. We can also put into action a few quick tips that, should an accident happen, will make a big difference. On the other hand, some of these tips can also help avoid accidents.

The first place you want to look is your tires. They have to be properly inflated, and more importantly they have to be in good condition. Your tires are the only point of contact between your vehicle and the road, so it is of the utmost importance that they be in top shape. Also, when winter starts to roll around, get your winter tires on sooner rather than later.

Another tip that is often forgotten relates to your headlights. Make sure they are always clean, and if you feel like you cannot see very well at night, you may want to opt for aftermarket light bulbs which will go a long way in helping night time visibility.

Finally, remove those objects that are lying around in your vehicle. These include tissue boxes, shoes, tools, and everything else that could become a projectile in the event of a crash.
