Just before the last large automobile exhibition of the season, the New York International Auto Show, Acura revealed the new, slightly redesigned TLX. This luxury sedan has received subtle changes in order to keep up with the segment.
First off, both engines are unchanged for the 2018 edition of the TLX, the 205 horsepower, 2.4-liter four cylinder engine for the base, front wheel drive variants, and the 290 horsepower 3.5 litre V6 for the SH-AWD.
Regarding exterior modifications, Acura gave its new TLX a transformed front fascia, with the brand new signature diamond pentagon grille, slightly redesigned Jewel Eye headlights, a wider stance and new 17 inch wheels. Inside, the TLX gets standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as standard AcuraWatch safety features that include the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) with automatic emergency braking, Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow (LSF) and Road Departure Mitigation (RDM).
The A-Spec package is back
For 2018, buyers will be able to outfit their 2018 TLX with the A-Spec package. This series of modifications aim to give the luxury sedan a little more distinction with a more dynamic drive. Offered on both 4-cylinder and SH-AWD versions, the A-Spec package comes with a unique front fascia, a set of round LED fog lights, and large round dual-exhaust finishers that are blended in a piano black rear diffuser. Moreover, this package adds a new, sport-tuned suspension with more dynamic damper settings.
Buyers who choose the more powerful SH-AWD model wth the A-Spec package will benefit from stiffer springs and a stiffer stabilizer bar.
The 2018 Acura TLX keeps its discreet character, but now offers a few more options to drivers who want a more dynamic drive. The 2018 Acura TLX will be in Canadian dealerships in June.
