Known for offering a drive that is more dynamic than most of its rivals, the Mazda6 nevertheless had a fairly obvious disadvantage compared to its recently renewed competition, the absence of a turbocharged engine.
Mazda will be back on track next year with the 2018 Mazda6, which will be showcased in a few weeks at the Los Angeles International Auto Show. Mazda’s midsize sedan will indeed abandon its current engine, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder developing 184 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque, in favor of the four-cylinder turbo currently found in the Mazda CX-9.
Developing 227 horsepower and an impressive 310 lb-ft of torque, this engine could however be modified to better adapt to a sedan like the Mazda6.
However, it will be necessary to wait until Los Angeles to get more specific details on the new Mazda6.
