CAR NEWS: Next Nissan Leaf to offer one-pedal driving

Like most automakers like to do when they are about to unveil a new and very important model, Nissan is gradually releasing new information about the next generation of its famous electric Nissan Leaf.

This week, the Japanese manufacturer announced the new e-Pedal function, a system that will allow new Leaf owners to drive their electric Nissan using only the right pedal. In other words, e-Pedal technology acts as an accelerator, but when released the Nissan Leaf brakes like a traditional car.

This type of system exists on the Chevrolet Bolt, in particular, but the Nissan system pushes the envelope a little further by being able to slow down and hold the car even on a hill.

According to the Japanese manufacturer, owners will be able to drive 90 % of the time using only one pedal.

A pioneer of 100-percent electric cars, 277,000 units of the Nissan Leaf have been sold since its arrival on the market. The next generation of the Leaf will be unveiled on September 6th.
